Joining the military before college vs after- need feedback please

Hello folks, hope this message finds you all well. I'm a high school junior, torn between joining the military straight after high school, or maybe waiting until after college. I'm pretty unsure about which option is better. For anyone who has done either, what was your experience like and what sort of advice would you have for a high schooler in my shoes?

First off, your interest in serving in the military is truly admirable. When thinking about whether to join the military before or after college, your decision will largely hinge on your long-term goals and personal circumstances.

If you join the military straight after high school, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable life and career experience early on. Moreover, the military often provides benefits such as tuition assistance for attending college while serving, or GI Bill benefits for attending college after your service. However, it's important to note that military service, while rewarding, can also be physically and mentally demanding and it often requires a time commitment of multiple years.

If you choose to go to college first, you could consider participating in a Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. That way, you can get your degree while also preparing for military service. After graduation, you could enter the military as an officer, which often comes with increased responsibilities and pay. This route provides immediate access to higher education and the traditional college experience, but it also potentially involves juggling academic and military training obligations.

Keep in mind, there's no single "correct" pathway here; it depends largely on your personal aspirations and circumstances.
