New York has some well-known military colleges that can provide excellent steppingstones to a career in the military. Two of the most reputable are the United States Military Academy (also known as West Point), and the State University of New York Maritime College. Also, keep in mind that all military academies offer a tuition-free education in return for service after graduation.
West Point is located in West Point, New York, and is one of the five U.S. service academies. Known for its rigorous academic program and strict code of conduct, West Point offers a comprehensive undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree. Outside the classroom, cadets partake in physical training and character-building activities that prepare them for future roles as officers in the U.S. Army.
The State University of New York Maritime College (SUNY Maritime) is located in Throggs Neck, New York. Besides being one of the oldest maritime colleges, SUNY Maritime provides excellent programs in engineering, marine transportation, and other maritime-associated fields.
