ACE college credits in the military?

Hey guys, I came across something called ACE college credits and I'm a bit confused. Can someone kindly explain to me what they are and how they're linked to the military?

Sure, happy to clarify that for you! The American Council on Education (ACE) partners with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to help military service members gain college credit for their military training and experiences. When you attend a training school or complete a military training course, that training can often be worth ACE credit recommendations. In other words, ACE credits are essentially recommendations that certain training or experiences are equivalent to college-level learning, and hence, should be considered for academic credit.

So, if you've undergone specific military training or achieved certain military ranks, you might earn ACE credits. For instance, let's say you've completed basic training, achieved a particular rank, or completed an officer training school. That accomplishment could qualify for ACE credits.

The key here is that these are credit recommendations. It's up to individual colleges and universities to decide whether they accept ACE credits and how they apply to your degree program. Depending on the institution and your program of study, you might be able to apply these credits towards general education requirements, electives, or even major-related courses.

Do keep in mind to thoroughly research each potential college or university's policy on ACE credits. It's also beneficial to discuss your military training with your academic advisor to understand how these credits might fit into your academic plan.
