I'm pretty set on majoring in child psychology and I'm in the process of researching colleges. I've heard that some colleges have stronger programs than others when it comes to specific fields of study. Can anyone recommend colleges that are known for their child psychology programs?

Sure, I'd be happy to help guide your search. There are several colleges known for their psychology programs, with specialized branches in child development or child psychology.

1. Yale University: Yale's Psychology department offers an area of focus in Developmental Psychology, which is where child psychology generally falls under. Yale provides both undergraduate and graduate programs, with plenty of opportunities for research.

2. University of Michigan–Ann Arbor: Their psychology department is regarded as one of the best in the U.S., and they offer numerous concentrations, including Developmental Psychology.

3. Stanford University: Stanford's Department of Psychology also includes a Developmental concentration. Beyond coursework, Stanford offers opportunities for research in child psychology labs.

4. University of Minnesota Twin Cities: This university has the Institute of Child Development, which is renowned as one of the top developmental psychology programs in the nation.

5. University of California–Berkeley: The psychology department at UC Berkeley offers an emphasis on developmental psychology, with research opportunities in their notable Institute of Human Development.

It's important to remember that if you're planning on becoming a licensed psychologist, you'll need to continue your education at a graduate level. The colleges listed above all offer prestigious graduate programs as well. As part of your college search, it might be helpful to also consider which schools have faculty whose research aligns with your interests in child psychology. Good luck with your search!
