UCSD for Psychology Major?

I'm definitely leaning toward UC San Diego for their excellent psychology program. I'm a little confused about the college system though. Can anyone give me their insight on which UCSD college would be the best fit for a psych major? Really struggling here.

UC San Diego’s college system can certainly seem complex at first glance. Each of the eight colleges has its unique structure, general education requirements, and ethos, though all colleges offer access to the same majors.

The best college for you as a prospective psychology major really depends on your academic and personal preferences, and it's important to remember that your choice of college won’t directly affect your study in psychology, as all the colleges use the same department.

That being said, you might take the general education requirements into consideration. For example, if you enjoy a structured, pre-determined curriculum, you may consider Revelle College since it possesses a comprehensive General Education system and provides a classical liberal arts education. However, the curriculum is quite rigid, with lots of required courses in mathematics, natural sciences, language, and a five-course humanities sequence.

On the other hand, if you like having more freedom to choose your general education requirements, Sixth and Seventh College might be attractive as their general education curriculums allow for flexibility on which courses you can take to fulfill them, allowing you to perhaps integrate your Psychology interests into your studies.

Remember, there isn’t a definitive ‘best’ college for a psychology major, as all UCSD students will ultimately earn the same degree with the same high-tier education. It comes down to which college culture and general education requirements align best with your future academic plans and personal interests. Be sure to research each college's ethos and requirements before making your decision.
