Transferring Credits from GA Military College

Hey all! I've been considering GA Military College and was wondering if anyone knew how their credit transfer system worked? Say, if I wanted to switch to a different college afterwards, would my credits reliably transfer over? Hoping for firsthand experiences if any!

Hello! Credit transfer entirely depends on the receiving institution. While many colleges will transfer over general education credits quite easily, credits for very specific or specialized courses might be a bit harder to transfer. Accreditation, too, plays a role, as credits from a regionally accredited college are generally more accepted than those from a nationally accredited one. GA Military College is regionally accredited by SACSCOC, which often makes credit transfer easier.

However, each college will have its own policies, so it is best to confirm with the specific college or colleges to which you're looking to transfer. Make sure to take note of their transfer requirements and which of your credits meet those.

Keep in mind, individual departments at the receiving university may want to evaluate your previous coursework to ensure it matches their standards.

Even when ensuring you are taking transferable courses, unexpected issues can occur. For example, even if an English course is universally accepted, if you want to major in English and the department reviews your past English course and doesn’t think it aligns with their curriculum, you may need to retake it.

It's always a good idea to keep a thorough record of your coursework, including syllabi, assignments, textbooks used, etc., in case you need to provide detailed information to the receiving institution.

Again, your best bet is to reach out to the specific colleges you're considering to get the most accurate information. Hope this helps, and best of luck with your educational journey!
