Military Transcripts for College Application, How Do I Get Them?

Hi everyone, I'm currently applying to colleges, but I've served in the military previously and part of the application process requires my military transcripts. Can anyone guide me through this, what's the procedure of getting military transcripts for college applications?

You’re on the right track! For academic credit, many colleges require your military transcripts, which contain all your training, job experience, and college-equivalent credits earned while serving. The process varies depending upon the military branch you've served in. Here's a quick guide:

- Joint Services Transcript (JST): For Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard veterans, you'll need to request a Joint Services Transcript. You can do this by visiting the Joint Services Transcript website and submitting a request online.

- Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript: If you served in the Air Force, you would have to request a transcript from the Community College of the Air Force. You can place an online request through the Air University's CCAF website.

After requesting, the transcript can be sent directly to your prospective colleges. It's important to keep in mind that while military training might translate into college credits, it will depend on the policies of the college you're applying to. The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) and Defense Activity for Nontraditional Education Support (DANTES) exam scores should also be included, if they are applicable to your military term.

I hope this answers your question. Good luck with your applications!
