Least Selective Colleges in Texas—Opinions?

Hey folks! As I head into my senior year, I'm starting to explore all my college options, not just the ones with high acceptance rates. Does anyone have any recommendations for the least selective colleges in Texas? Extra credit to those that also have great STEM programs!

There are several institutions in Texas which are known as less selective, while still offering a solid education in various fields, including STEM.

1. West Texas A&M University: Located in Canyon, this school has an acceptance rate that is generally above 92%. It offers a range of programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, like Engineering Technology and Environmental Science.

2. Sam Houston State University: The institution is situated in Huntsville and provides scholarships specifically devoted to students interested in STEM fields. It generally admits over 85% of students who apply.

3. Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi: This university has a 88% acceptance rate. It's known for the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies, which is dedicated to advancing the long-term sustainable use and conservation of the Gulf of Mexico. This could be a great fit if you're interested in environmental science.

4. Stephen F. Austin University: Located in Nacogdoches, this university has traditionally admitted over 90% of applicants. The College of Sciences and Mathematics offers degrees in many STEM fields, including Geology, Physics, and Environmental Science.

5. University of Houston-Downtown: This university has open admissions, meaning all applicants are accepted, as long as they've completed high school. The College of Sciences and Technology offers a wide range of STEM programs, like Applied Mathematics and Structural Biology.

These schools not only offer less competitive admissions, but they also offer great opportunities in STEM education. Remember, though, that "least selective" does not necessarily mean "easy." You'll still need to work hard, both to get in and to do well once you're there.
