Which college majors tend to earn less?

Money isn't everything, but it's definitely part of my thinking when choosing a major. What majors are typically associated with lower earning potential post graduation?

While it's crucial to recognize that your passion and enjoyment of the subject can play a significant role in your ultimate success, it's also practical to consider salary potential when selecting a major. This doesn't necessarily mean you should opt-out of lower-earning majors but rather prepare and plan accordingly.

Generally, majors in the humanities and arts, like Fine Arts, Religious Studies, or Literature, are often associated with lower earning potential immediately after graduation. These fields are full of passionate and gifted individuals, but the large supply of graduates tends to outpace the demand, leading to lower average salaries early on.

Educational majors also often face lower starting salaries, especially in the K-12 range. This is widely known and is an ongoing issue in many regions.

Social work is another field where starting salaries tend to be lower, although the fulfillment many find in the work can outweigh the monetary measures of success.

Note that many of these "lower-earning" majors can lead to fulfilling and impactful careers, and it's not uncommon to see individuals in these fields moving on to higher-paying jobs once they gain more experience or further education. Also, keep in mind your geographical location can play a significant part in your earning potential.
