What are some of the most dangerous colleges in the US?

Safety is a big factor for me in choosing a college. I'm trying to get an idea of what campuses might not be the safest. Anyone knows what are considered some of the most dangerous colleges in the US?

When it comes to the safety of college campuses, it's crucial to understand that various factors might lead to a school being considered "dangerous". For instance, campus security policies, the measures taken to ensure student safety, the local crime rates, among others can all have a significant impact.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Grambling State University in Louisiana, Benedict College in South Carolina, and Savannah State University in Georgia had some of the highest crime rates among U.S universities in recent years. This includes both on-campus and off-campus incidents.

However, you should also bear in mind that urban campuses may also report higher crime rates because they are located in larger cities which tend to have higher crime rates to begin with. For example, University of California-Los Angeles and University of Southern California, both situated in Los Angeles, a city with a high crime rate, often report higher numbers of crimes.

Ultimately, the best way to get a concrete sense of safety at schools you're considering is to research the specific safety services they offer, such as 24-hour security patrols, campus escort services, emergency phones, and safety apps. It could be also helpful to talk to current students or college officials about safety measures and their personal experiences on campus. Remember that while crime statistics can provide a snapshot, they may not tell the whole story about safety at a particular school.
