Politics is everywhere, I get it. But I'm not looking for a politically charged campus environment. Do any of you know colleges which have a rep for being 'least political'?
Absolutely, there are definitely colleges where the political climate is more subdued.
If you're not looking for a heavily political campus, you might want to consider technical institutes or universities known for their STEM programs. Focus on colleges where the dominant majors are engineering, mathematics, or hard sciences, as these programs tend to be less politically oriented in their pedagogy.
Schools like Caltech, MIT, Harvey Mudd College, and Georgia Tech could be good options. They are institutions that heavily emphasize STEM fields, and according to student surveys, they don't have much of a political atmosphere compared to other more liberal arts-focused colleges.
Keep in mind, however, that every campus will have some level of political activity—it's part of the nature of being in an academic community full of vibrant, curious minds. But in such STEM schools, these activities are usually less visible or less dominant in campus culture.
Let me also add that it's perfectly fine to take a step back from political discussions in college. College is a time for exploring various facets of life and if politics isn't your preferred arena, that's completely alright. Take this opportunity to explore your other interests and passions. Cheers!
