Which liberal arts colleges are the least preppy?

Hey, I'm a high school junior who isn't into the preppy culture. I've read that some liberal arts colleges are less 'preppy' than others, does anyone have a good list? Or any recommendations for colleges that might be a good fit for me?

While it's hard to definitively label a college as 'preppy' or 'non-preppy', some liberal arts colleges are known for having less traditional cultures, potentially posing as good options for you. One of those is Reed College in Oregon. Reed is well-known for its rigorous academic environment combined with a student body that prizes individuality and nonconformity.

Similarly, Oberlin College in Ohio fosters a vibrant, creative, and free-thinking student body with strong emphases on social justice and activism.

Pitzer College, part of the Claremont Colleges in Southern California, is another option. Pitzer has a strong focus on sociology, political studies, and environmental science, and there's an overall commitment to social justice, making it feel less 'traditional'.

Also, consider Evergreen State College in Washington. This public liberal arts institution emphasizes interdisciplinary study. The campus culture is characterized by a progressive, non-traditional atmosphere.

However, remember that every student's perception of a college's culture can vary, and what appears 'non-preppy' to one person might not to another. Therefore, it's important for you to visit these colleges (either virtually or in person), talk to current students or alumni, and try to get a feel for the culture yourself. Doing so will help you determine if a school is the right fit for you.
