Least religious Catholic colleges - any suggestions?

Hey everyone, I'm really digging the supportive communities in Catholic colleges, but I'm not particularly devout myself. Can anyone suggest some Catholic colleges that are known to be less religious or have a more relaxed approach to religion?

Sure, there are several Catholic colleges that emphasize their education and community values over strictly religious practice.

One of them is Georgetown University located in Washington, D.C. It's the oldest Catholic and Jesuit institute of higher learning in the United States, but it's known for having a fairly relaxed approach to religion. Students of all faith backgrounds attend, and while the Jesuit values certainly permeate campus culture, the focus is more on broad principles like promoting justice, engaging with diverse cultures, and intellectual inquiry, rather than strictly Catholic doctrine.

Similarly, Boston College, which is also a Jesuit university, places a heavy emphasis on community service and social justice. While it does maintain some Catholic traditions, the religious aspect isn't overwhelming and students from a variety of religious backgrounds generally feel comfortable.

Notre Dame University, despite its iconic campus chapel and active campus ministry, is also known to host a spectrum of students, from the devoutly Catholic to the non-religious.

Loyola University Chicago also operates in the Jesuit tradition. It has a reputation for being welcoming to students of all faiths and encouraging of free and open dialogue.

It's important to remember, however, that even in these less strictly-religious Catholic colleges, some Catholic influence will be evident in the form of availability of Mass, theology course requirements, and the presence of religious iconography on campus. Every student's comfort level will vary, so it might be worth visiting these schools, talking to current students, or participating in virtual events to get a sense of how you'd fit in.
