Experiences with College Courses: Best and Worst?

Respondent 1:

I remember taking a creative writing course that really resonated with me. Our professor created a relaxed, inviting environment where we felt comfortable expressing our ideas and sharing stories with one another. We had all kinds of interesting assignments which included everything from poetry to flash fiction. I really liked how the class was small, allowing students to bond over the course of the semester.

On the other hand, I found my calculus class quite challenging. The concepts were difficult for me to grasp, and the large class size didn't give me enough opportunity to engage with the professor. However, this helped me understand the importance of office hours and seeking out additional resources when needed.

Respondent 2:

I found my Cultural Anthropology course to be a very enlightening experience. Getting the chance to learn about various cultures around the world opened my eyes to the vast diversity of human societies. It also made me more understanding and empathetic towards different cultures.

In contrast, I had a challenging experience with a general chemistry class I took. The bulk of learning was self-driven, as the professor believed in learning by discovery. While I can appreciate the principles behind it, I felt overwhelmed at times and struggled to keep up. Yet, it taught me a lot about self-discipline and managing my studies efficiently.

Respondent 3:

I had a really engaging and insightful experience with a Philosophy class I took in my first year. The professor encouraged stimulating debate and conversation around various philosophical concepts. It was great to explore different perspectives and broaden my world view.

On the less positive side, I did struggle a lot with my introductory physics class. The material was dense and complex, and the pace of the course was quite fast. However, it did provide me with a newfound appreciation for the subject, and taught me the importance of persistence and resilience in the face of academic obstacles.
