Colleges where students don't party much?

I'm a firm believer of 'work hard, play hard', but partying ain't exactly my thing. Looking for college suggestions where there's less drinking and partying but still a great learning experience. Thoughts?

Sure, there are plenty of colleges out there known for a more low-key social scene, where there might be less of a party atmosphere but the academic experience is highly rated. Here are a few examples:

1. Swarthmore College: Known for its rigorous academics, Swarthmore has a reputation for minimal partying. Students tend to focus on their studies, and social life often consists of low-key dorm hangouts or organized activities.

2. University of Chicago: Students often joke that the University of Chicago is where "fun goes to die," thanks to its rigorous academics. This is of course hyperbole, but you'll find that the culture here is more oriented towards studying and intellectual conversation rather than partying.

3. Brigham Young University: A religious university with strict policies, the university doesn't allow drinking or smoking, significantly reducing the partying culture.

4. CalTech: The California Institute of Technology is a great choice if you're more interested in science and less in parties. CalTech is a small but esteemed institution concentrating more on academic progress and research.

5. Harvey Mudd College: Similar to CalTech, Harvey Mudd focuses on STEM and has a reputation for a diligent, hard-working student body.

These colleges still have vibrant social scenes and plenty of other activities to engage in, so you'll have opportunities for the 'play hard' part just without the traditional party scene. However, remember that the atmosphere can vary greatly even within one institution, so it's crucial to visit and get a feel for your own day-to-day life at a given school. Plus, 'fit' includes more than just social scene; academic programs, size, location, and other factors are also crucial considerations.
