Financial aid for military spouses?

My partner's in the military and I'm planning on starting college soon. Are there any specific funds or scholarships available to military spouses? Does the military help out with it?

Yes, there are several financial aid resources for military spouses, both through the military and through outside grants and scholarships.

One of the most well-known assistance programs is the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program, which provides up to $4,000 in financial assistance to spouses of military personnel. This program can be used towards associate's degrees, certifications, and licensures in certain high-demand, high-growth career fields.

The National Military Family Association also offers scholarships to military spouses. These can be used for various forms of education and professional support including degrees, certifications, professional registrations, and more.

Another resource is the ThanksUSA scholarship program, which provides need-based scholarships to military spouses and children.

Additionally, the Pat Tillman Foundation offers a scholarship to military spouses pursuing a degree. This scholarship is not only based on need but also on applicants’ plans for their degrees, their past achievements, and their commitment to service.

It's worth noting that these represent only a few of the opportunities out there. When looking for scholarships, check out also local organizations, non-profits and private companies - many offer scholarships specifically for military spouses. Don't forget to check in with your school's financial aid office, they could have information on other scholarships available as well.

Finally, keep in mind that each of these scholarships and financial aid programs will have its own eligibility requirements and application process, so it's important to do your research and ensure that you meet the criteria before applying.
