Looking for advice about military colleges in Georgia

So I'm currently a high school junior in GA and I'm seriously thinking about pursuing a military career. Any advice or anecdotes about military colleges here in Georgia?

Sure, I can provide some insight there. Georgia has a few options when it comes to military education.

1. University of North Georgia (UNG): UNG is one of six senior military colleges in the US. Students in the Corps of Cadets live a military-style lifestyle while pursuing a civilian degree. They have the choice of commissioning as officers in the military upon graduation.

2. Georgia Military College (GMC): GMC is a junior military college which offers a high school program, an associate program, and a four-year bachelor program across multiple locations. GMC is an excellent option for cadets who wish to transfer to senior military colleges or regular four-year universities.

Anecdotes aside, here's some light advice. If you're seriously considering a military career, both colleges offer plenty of opportunities to explore military life alongside academics. Make sure to engage with cadets and faculty during campus visits to understand the environment, rigor, and expectations better.

Remember, getting admitted to these colleges typically requires a balance between strong academics and demonstrated leadership in extracurriculars. Throughout your junior and senior year, keep focusing on maintaining a good GPA, striving for high scores on your SAT/ACT (if you're taking them), and strengthen your leadership positions within your current activities.

Lastly, keep all your options open. You may also want to consider ROTC programs at your other prospective colleges – these provide another pathway to commissioning as an officer upon graduation. Good luck!
