Should I Take Psychology in High School?

I have space for an elective next year and I’m strongly considering psychology. Does taking a psych class in high school benefit my college application if I’m interested in a social sciences major? Or should I focus on another science or tech elective instead?

Hello there! It's great that you're thinking ahead about your elective choices. If you have an interest in the social sciences and are considering that as a potential major in college, taking a psychology class in high school can certainly be beneficial. Not only does it demonstrate your interest in the field to college admissions officers, but it also gives you a foundational understanding that can be valuable in your higher education journey. Plus, having a diverse set of classes can show that you're well-rounded in your course selection. If you have room in your schedule and are already covering your bases with other science and tech electives, go for it! Psychology can be a fascinating subject, and it's a great way to explore a potential major early on. Remember, enjoying what you study is key to doing well, and that will reflect positively in your college application too. Good luck with your decision!
