Looking for Least Dense College Campuses

I value my personal space a lot, and I've been searching for colleges that aren’t jam-packed. Could anyone recommend colleges known for having less dense campuses?

Sure, I'd be glad to help with that. Looking for colleges with low student density can be a good way to find campuses where you may be able to enjoy more personal space.

1. Dartmouth College: Dartmouth has a rustic, spread-out campus in Hanover, New Hampshire. Though it's an Ivy League school with a relatively small student population, its campus spans over 269 acres, making it one of the least densely populated campuses.

2. Middlebury College: This liberal arts college in Vermont has a campus that spans 350 acres with a student population of just about 2,800. The campus is well spread out, giving students plenty of outdoor space.

3. University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC): UCSC is known for its spread-out campus that spans more than 2,000 acres in the redwood forests. While it's a bit more populated than some smaller colleges, the abundance of land, coupled with its location amongst the woods, might give you the sense of personal space you're looking for.

4. Stanford University: Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Stanford's campus is one of the largest in the United States, spanning over 8,180 acres. Despite having a larger student population, the enormous campus size contributes to a lower student density.

However, keep in mind that low density doesn't necessarily mean that you'll have personal space everywhere you go, especially during events that draw a crowd. So, while these schools have more spacious campuses, you might still encounter crowded situations.
