College Help for Military Spouses

Sup, guys. So, my partner is in the military and I'm thinking of going to college. I’m sorta clueless about the whole process. Anybody know where I can get help or guidance, specifically tailored to military spouses?

Hello! It's fantastic that you're considering furthering your education. As a military spouse, you actually have access to several resources that can help you with the college admission process.

Firstly, you should look into the Military OneSource Education & Employment resource. They offer personalized consultations to military spouses regarding career exploration, education, training and licensing, employment readiness, and career connections.

The MyCAA (My Career Advancement Account) Scholarship Program is a workforce development program that provides up to $4,000 of financial assistance for military spouses. You might want to look into this if you qualify.

Also, some colleges may have admissions counselors specifically dedicated to helping military families. Try to find schools you're interested in, and then reach out to their admissions offices to see if they provide such services.

Another resource to consider is the Veterans Affairs (VA) Education and Training Benefit. While most people associate this with education benefits for service members themselves, it can also sometimes extend to spouses.

Lastly, on the personal side, leveraging existing networks of military spouses who have gone through the same journey can be incredibly useful. These connections can be found through Facebook groups, base community meetings, and more. They can offer practical insights from their own experiences.

Keep in mind that pursuing education as a military spouse may present unique challenges (regular moves, single parenting during deployments, etc.) so flexibility in a program may be something you want to consider.

Hope these resources help! Good luck with your journey to college.
