Least popular college majors: Where do I find them?

I'm a bit of an unconventional thinker and honestly the idea of heading into a field that isn't as saturated is appealing. Is there a place that provides a definitive list of the least popular majors in colleges around the United States?

While there isn't an official comprehensive list of the "least popular" majors in U.S. colleges, certain organizations and publications do compile data on college majors and their popularity. For instance, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) includes student demographic and academic data, and they regularly publish reports that show graduation rates across various fields of study.

In general, less saturated fields can sometimes include subjects like Astrophysics, Linguistics, and Library Science. These less conventional paths can indeed lead to unique, less crowded career paths.

A word of caution though. Since these fields are less popular, there may be fewer resources available, such as availability of professors, classes, funding for research, etc. Therefore, if you decide to pursue a less popular major, you should make sure the school you attend has strong offerings in that area.

Finally, remember that choosing a major should be about more than popularity. It's essential that you're truly interested and passionate about the field because your main goal should be to enjoy and excel in your studies and future career. Consider exploring unconventional paths through electives or double majoring, to ensure you have a well-rounded educational experience.
