To Which Least Religious Colleges Should I Apply?

Hi ya'll, as a person who's not very religious, I'm trying to avoid colleges that put a heavy emphasis on religion. Any recommendations for colleges that are known for not being overly religious?

Certainly, there are quite a few colleges and universities that are known for their secular leanings or lack of religious affiliations.

1. Reed College in Portland, Oregon, identifies itself as an independent liberal arts and sciences university. It's known for its rigorous academic standards and non-traditional grading system, with a student culture that highly values intellectual and critical thought.

2. Swarthmore College located in Pennsylvania is a small liberal arts college notable for its strong commitment to intellectual rigor and social responsibility. This college does not endorse any particular religious identity.

3. Brown University located in Rhode Island is another prominent college known for its diverse student body and lack of emphasis on religious traditions. It's possibly one of the most liberal of the Ivy League universities.

4. Oberlin College in Ohio, while originally established by Presbyterian ministers, has a solid reputation as a secular and progressive institution.

5. Colorado College, located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, has a reputation for being open-minded and non-religious, fostering a spirit of intellectual curiosity and individualism.

These colleges all display a spirit of open mindfulness and embrace students of all backgrounds.

Do keep in mind, however, that even at colleges and universities with religious affiliations, student experiences and campus cultures can vary greatly. Many religiously-affiliated schools have diverse student bodies with many non-religious students, so don't necessarily rule them out based on their religious history.
