Critically Need to Know: Least Safe Colleges?

Hey guys, as I'm considering my college options, I'd hate to end up in an unsafe campus. Have you guys come across any known as the 'least safe colleges' I should potentially steer clear from?

It's a very responsible approach you have there, wanting to consider safety when shortlisting your college options. A campus's safety can indeed affect your college experience. However, I would advise against labeling colleges as 'least safe.’ The truth is safety can be subjective, subjective to a student's individual habits, network of friends, location of classes, access to transport, etc.

For that reason, we can't simply categorize colleges as least safe. However, there are two key sources you can use to assess a school's safety:

1. Clery Act Statistics: Every university receiving federal funds is legally obligated to share annual crime statistics under the Clery Act. These are typically readily available on a school's website.

2. Security Reports: Alongside crime statistics, schools also detail their safety features, processes, and emergency response protocols. These cover preventative measures like campus police presence, lighting systems, escort services, shuttle buses, and more.

Taking this data into consideration, you can make a more informed choice keeping in mind the level of safety that is comfortable for you.

Always remember, no matter where you go, keep up healthy, safety-conscious habits! Stay aware of your surroundings, know the safety resources at hand, and stay connected with a reliable crew. After all, the key to your personal safety lies largely in your own hands.
