Exploring Mountain View College Military Opportunities

Hello all, I’ve been exploring Mountain View College’s military programs but I'm having a hard time finding experiences from those who've gone through them. If you could provide some insight, that’d be greatly appreciated.

It's a smart move to want to hear from past students about their experiences. While I can't share direct experiences from Mountain View College's military programs, I do have some broad advice based on similar programs nationwide that may assist you.

It's important to understand that military programs at colleges and universities often partner with ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) programs -- Army, Navy, and Air Force. These programs are designed to prepare students to become officers in the U.S. Military while completing their degrees. Participants often receive scholarships covering a large portion, if not all, of their tuition and living expenses in exchange for future military service.

If Mountain View College does not host an ROTC program directly, they may have cross-enrollment agreements with nearby institutions that do. You would attend your regular college classes at Mountain View and take your ROTC classes at the partnered institution.

Keep in mind that ROTC programs require a specific course load each semester related to military leadership, strategy, and physical training, in addition to your regular degree coursework. It's a challenging but rewarding commitment. After graduation, you'll enter the military as an officer, serving a term of service that's generally around four years, but this can vary.

Also, check out Mountain View College's Veteran Services. They may provide resources for veteran students, such as academic support, counseling, financial aid advisement, and help translating military experience into college credits.

Remember to directly reach out to Mountain View College's admissions or military affairs office with your specific questions. They may be able to connect you with current students or recent alumni of their military programs who can share firsthand experiences. I hope this gives you a better idea of the structure and expectations of college military programs as you explore your options at Mountain View College.
