Hey guys, I'm a junior looking at different paths after high school. I recently discovered Nassau Community College and I'm aware they have some programs geared towards the military. Can anyone provide insight on their military programs? Are they akin to ROTC programs at other colleges?
Nassau Community College (NCC) does indeed offer programs for military veterans and active-duty officers. Their programs can be beneficial for those who intend to join or are currently serving in the military, and they provide resources related to counseling, financial aid, and career services, specifically tailored to the unique needs and experiences of military members.
These services are managed by NCC's Center for Veterans Affairs, which helps students navigate the transition into an academic environment. In addition, NCC offers a tuition deferral program for veterans and several education benefit programs which can be financial major boons for military personnel looking to further their education.
While NCC offers exceptional resources, please be aware that it does not have a Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program on campus, but NCC students can participate at nearby universities through cross-enrollment. ROTC programs are designed to train college students to become officers in the U.S. Military after graduation.
You may want to set up a meeting with an advisor at NCC's Center for Veterans Affairs to discuss your academic and career goals further. They can help you understand how NCC's military programs can assist you with your future aspirations.
