Looking for College Classes with Less Homework

Hey guys, I'm trying to create a balanced class schedule for next semester. Are there any classes or types of classes which generally require less homework time? Trying to find a good balance between schoolwork and personal time.

Creating a balanced class schedule is essential for your overall academic success and mental well-being. Generally speaking, broad introductory classes (especially those with large lecture formats) compared to small, advanced seminars often require less outside work. These could be introductory courses for many majors, or general education classes outside your major. Such classes are usually designed to give students an overview of the field and therefore require less intensive work.

That being said, workload can vary widely between specific courses and professors. It's a good idea to check out the syllabuses if they're available or ask previous students about the workload. Avoid classes with "lab" or "studio" components, as these would often require significant outside time commitment.

You might also want to consider courses that align closely with your interests. Even if they require a substantial amount of reading or writing, you might not perceive it as burdensome if you enjoy the subject matter.

However, remember that while a lighter workload can help create a manageable schedule, a class that pushes you academically, even if it's a bit more work, can often be more rewarding in the end. Making the most of your education means striking a balance between academic rigor and personal well-being.

It's great to consider this now while scheduling your classes. Balancing work and personal time is a crucial skill, and it's impressive you're considering it.
