Colleges with Less Grade Inflation?

Hello! I've heard about grade inflation and I'm keen to compete in an environment where an A really means something and it can be reflected in my GPA. Do y'all know of any colleges that are known for less grade inflation?

Absolutely, there are indeed some colleges that are recognized for having less grade inflation, ensuring that an A is genuinely representative of exemplary academic performance.

1. Princeton University is well-known for its grading policy, with a guideline that no more than 35% of grades in undergraduate courses should be A-range grades. Princeton is dedicated to maintaining the meaning behind grades and thus, there is less grade inflation as compared to some other top-tier schools.

2. UC Berkeley also has a reputation for less grade inflation. The College of Letters & Science, which guides most of the undergraduate programs at Berkeley, has an established grading guideline that suggests the average grade in most undergraduate classes should be around a 2.8 - 3.3 GPA.

3. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is also recognized for its rigorous grading. The first semester at MIT for freshmen students is on pass/no record basis to help them transition into the rigorous academic environment. Afterwards, students are subject to a challenging grading system.

4. Harvey Mudd College is also often mentioned. It's notorious for its rigor and less inflated grading system.

These institutions attest to the fact that a strong GPA at these schools is a genuine reflection of one's academic prowess. Please remember grade inflation is just one factor to consider when choosing a college. Consider where you'll thrive both academically and socially, as both are key factors in your college success.
