Least Expensive Private Colleges in the US

Hi, pretty stressed about this whole college process. I would love to go to a private university but I've heard they can be really expensive. Is there anybody who can give me a rundown on some of the least expensive private colleges in the US?

Hello there! It's completely understandable to be concerned about the cost of tuition for private colleges—they often seem dauntingly high! However, there are private institutions out there that strive to offer lower tuition fees to their students. Here are a few that come to mind:

1. Brigham Young University (BYU): Located in Provo, Utah, BYU is a private university owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and tuition for its members is significantly cheaper compared to Non-LDS students.

2. CUNY Bernard M Baruch College: Located in the heart of New York, Baruch College is a public institution but it is worth mentioning as its tuition fees are relatively low for residents and out-of-state students.

3. Berea College: This institution, located in Kentucky, has a unique model where it provides every enrolled student with a no-tuition promise, which means you don't have to pay for tuition!

4. Amridge University: A smaller, lesser-known institution located in Montgomery, Alabama, Amridge University also offers lower tuition fees.

5. Alice Lloyd College: Another Kentucky institution, Alice Lloyd College offers free tuition to students from Central Appalachia.

Remember, the cost of attendance goes beyond just tuition—it can include room and board, books, travel, and personal expenses. Additionally, many private colleges offer significant amounts of financial aid, so don't just write them off due to sticker price! Make sure to use the Net Price Calculator on each school's website to estimate what you might actually pay after financial aid.

Lastly, I would suggest looking into scholarships, both from the schools you're applying to and from private organizations. Every bit of aid can help make college more affordable.

Good luck with the rest of your college search process, and remember, there are many paths to a great education!
