Most applied to colleges?

As I'm starting the application process, I'm curious to know - which colleges receive the highest number of applications each year? This doesn't necessarily affect my choices, but I feel it will give a clearer picture for how competitive some of these places can be.

There are indeed several colleges and universities that face a high volume of applications every year, leading to intense competition. Please keep in mind that these figures might vary from year to year due to numerous factors, including shifts in student interests, changes in application policies, or even worldwide events (like the COVID-19 pandemic).

Among the top contenders consistently seeing the highest application numbers are the University of California (UC) colleges. UC Los Angeles (UCLA) typically leads the group with a very high application volume, while UC San Diego, UC Irvine, and UC Berkeley also receive a significant number of applications.

Within the Ivy League, Harvard, Columbia, and Cornell often receive a large number of applications. Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), while not Ivy League, also face high competition due to their strong reputation in science and tech.

On the East Coast, private institutions like New York University (NYU) and Boston University receive a massive amount of applications, largely due to their locations in vibrant cities.

While a high number of applications can make these schools seem intimidating, don't let this deter you from applying if you believe the school is a good fit for your academic and personal goals. Regardless of the competition, these schools are looking for passionate and committed individuals, so focusing on conveying your unique strengths, interests, and experiences in your applications is key.
