What are your experiences with the CIEE High School Study Abroad program?

Hey everyone! I’m considering applying to the CIEE High School Study Abroad program for next summer and wondered if anyone here has done it before. Can you share how it was and whether it had an impact on your college applications? I’m looking for programs that could provide a unique learning experience and also catch the eye of admissions.

Hi there! CIEE is an incredibly well-regarded organization in the world of study abroad, and their programs can be a fantastic experience. You'll learn a lot about the culture you're immersed in and gained a new level of independence.

In terms of college applications, if your program ends up being especially formative, you could lead off your activities list with it, or write a supplemental essay or even your personal statement about it. That would likely resonate well with admissions officers, especially at schools known for being interested in global perspectives like Dartmouth and NYU.

Ultimately, though, the impact on your college apps depends on the impact the program has on you. There are a wide range of things you can take away from this kind of program, and some of them may connect more directly to your potential as a college student than others. So, go into it with an open mind, and see where it goes—it'll certainly be enriching, even if it doesn't end up being a focal point of your college apps.

I hope this helps, and good luck with planning your summer!
