Brains over Business: What are the Most Academically Focused Colleges?

Hey all, I'm someone who loves to study and I've got my priorities set when it comes to learning. I would love to know more about the most academic colleges. Do you guys know which colleges focus less on the business of education and more on the actual academics?

The liberal arts colleges seem to be what you're looking for. Their primary purpose is to provide a broad, well-rounded education rather than focusing narrowly on specific career or professional training. Reed College, Swarthmore College, Haverford College, and Amherst College are good examples.

Reed, in particular, has a reputation for being academically intense. Famous for its conference-style learning, Reed de-emphasizes grades and instead focuses on providing a deep understanding of the subject matter.

Swarthmore offers both a wide range of courses and an environment that encourages in-depth discussion. This school is known for its prized emphasis on academics and its honors program, which has a particular emphasis on student-faculty intellectual partnership.

Haverford is another liberal arts college that, despite being small in size, prides itself on rigorous academics and a student-run honor code. Haverford's academic philosophy rests upon furthering intellectual growth, academic initiative, and peaceful social interaction.

Amherst College, while having a flexible curriculum, encourages students to explore across the academic spectrum before focusing down their major. The college fosters an environment where intellectual curiosity flourishes.

Keep in mind that these schools are highly selective, though, so you'll want a strong academic record and some compelling essays to support your application.
