Campus Interaction Based on Race and Class

I'm doing a bit of introspection on college campuses. Can anyone share some info on colleges where there's least interaction amongst students based on race and wealth status? Full disclosure, I'm aiming for a diverse environment. Thanks so much.

When considering schools known for promoting a diverse environment and interaction among students of different races and socioeconomic statuses, you might want to look at those that intentionally foster diversity and inclusion.

One school that stands out in this area is Pomona College. Pomona has received recognition for its commitment to socio-economic and racial diversity, and its programs aim to ensure all students feel included regardless of their backgrounds. It's a small liberal arts college, meaning there's a tight-knit community where interactions among different groups are frequent.

Amherst College is another great example. It has need-blind admissions, meaning they do not consider a family's financial circumstances for admission - this leads to more socioeconomic diversity. They also have a highly diverse student body in terms of race and ethnicity.

Rice University also emphasizes inclusivity and diversity at all levels. Through their numerous multicultural programs, they ensure different races interact regularly and that students from lower-income backgrounds feel comfortable.

However, it's one thing to have a diverse student body and another for students to be interacting freely across race and class lines. That's often more about campus climate and culture, and it's harder to measure. I would suggest that you talk to current students during campus tours to get a feel for the culture at each school. Further, consider checking online student forums or social media groups and ask how they perceive the college environment regarding your concern.

Keep in mind, that every person's experience is slightly different even within the same institution. Diversity and inclusion work in higher education is ongoing. Reviewing the schools' diversity and inclusion efforts directly on the college's website could also be informative and show the schools' commitment to this aspect.
