Hello, I'm currently researching my college options and, as odd as it may sound, I am interested in the less popular colleges in New York. To clarify, I'm not talking about the less 'prestigious' ones but those that attract fewer students. Anyone have some suggestions?
There are several smaller and less popular colleges in New York—meaning they have smaller undergraduate populations, or might not be very well-known—which offer a wide variety of excellent opportunities. There are a few that might be of interest to you.
St. Joseph's College NY in Brooklyn typically enrolls under 5,000 part- and full-time students a year, which means smaller classes and more personalized attention. They have more than 50 undergraduate programs.
SUNY College at Old Westbury, located in Old Westbury on Long Island, is a public college with a small student body, offering a variety of undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences, business, and education.
Remember that while these colleges may have smaller student bodies and less name recognition, that in no way belittles the education and opportunities they offer. Be sure to research each school to understand the programs and opportunities they will offer that align with your academic and career goals.
