Waiving application fees for military colleges?

I'm really interested in applying to multiple military colleges but the application fees are kind of a problem. Is there any program or waiving policy for prospective military college students?

Many colleges, including military colleges, do offer application fee waivers for certain qualifying students. Typically, they are available for students who can demonstrate financial hardship, whether you are a veteran, active-duty, reserve servicemember, or a dependent of one of the aforementioned groups.

You may be able to receive a waiver if you meet criteria like being enrolled in or eligible to participate in the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch program (FRPL), if your annual family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service, or if you're enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g., Federal TRIO programs such as Upward Bound).

Waiver processes vary by school, though, so it's a good idea to check with the admissions office of each military college you're interested in to learn about their specific policies and requirements. They'll be able to provide you with the most current and accurate information. Many colleges and universities have information about application fee waivers on their admissions or financial aid websites.

Some colleges also acknowledge the College Board's Fee Waiver Service, which you can access if you were given SAT fee waivers. If this is the case, they will usually indicate that on their application page.

Overall, reaching out to the financial aid office or veterans services at your prospective colleges should be your first step to secure detailed information. They can provide instructions on how to apply for fee waivers and might be able to offer additional insight into other financial resources you may qualify for.

Remember, application fees can add up but don't let them deter you from applying to the schools of your choice. Fee waiver programs are aimed exactly at aiding applicants like you. Reach out to the colleges, gather information, and explore your options. Good luck!
