What are considered the most popular colleges in the US currently?

Howdy folks, I'm looking for some info on what colleges are considered super popular right now in the states. I've got a broad range of interests so field of study isn't the biggest factor. I'm just interested in knowing where a lot of students are applying and attending. Anybody have insights?

According to the number of applications and the overall prestige, some of the most popular universities in the U.S. currently are:

1. University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA): As of 2022, UCLA has been receiving the most applications of any university in the country. This public university is known for its strong programs across disciplines, its vibrant campus life, and its location in a major city.

2. University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley): UC Berkeley is another UC school that consistently gets a high number of applications. Their strong STEM and liberal arts programs appeal to many students.

3. University of Southern California (USC): USC has seen a surge in applications over the years due to its strong programs in arts and sciences, its proximity to downtown LA, and its tangible school spirit.

4. New York University (NYU): Located in the heart of New York City, NYU is known for its strong programs in business, arts, and social sciences. Its location and global programs make it appealing for many students.

5. Columbia University: A highly prestigious Ivy League university located in New York City. It's known for its selective admissions and excellent humanities, science, and engineering programs.

6. University of Texas, Austin (UT Austin): This school is known for combining strong academics with vibrant campus life and competitive athletics, which has led it to gain popularity.

7. Stanford University: Located in Silicon Valley, Stanford is sought after for its entrepreneurial culture and is renowned for its programs in technology, engineering, and business.

Remember that popularity doesn't always equate to quality. While these universities are well-regarded and attract many applications, it's also important to choose a college that aligns with your personal interests and academic goals. Consider factors such as the school’s academic rigor, the student-to-faculty ratio, the opportunities for hands-on learning, and the overall campus culture when making your decision.
