Anyone have experience with the military college entry test?

So, I'm a junior now and I've started considering military colleges but I found out there's an entry test. Can anyone who's gone through it tell me what it's like? Is it very different from the SATs or ACTs? Any advice would be really appreciated!

In addition to the traditional college entrance exams like the SAT or ACT, should you apply to a military academy (like the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Air Force Academy, or U.S. Coast Guard Academy), you will need to pass the Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA) which is a physical fitness test.

However, if you're considering a service academy or senior military college (such as the Virginia Military Institute or the Citadel), you will generally still need to take standardized tests like the SAT or ACT, as these are often still a critical piece of your application. It's always best to check the specific admissions requirements of the institutes you're interested in for the most accurate information.

As for the CFA, it's composed of six events including a basketball throw, push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, a shuttle run, and a one-mile run. Remember, the goal of this exam is to evaluate your physical readiness for the physical demands of military service, so it's quite different from your typical SAT or ACT. If you're serious about attending a military college, start training as early as possible.

I'd advise you to remain consistent with your physical training regimen and even consider hiring a personal trainer experienced in preparing candidates for military fitness tests if it's within your means. In addition, maintain a healthy diet and adequate hydration.

Remember to pace yourself during the test and not exhaust all your energy in the initial stages. It's crucial to practice proper form for each event, so familiarize yourself with the test procedure and scoring criteria.

Overall, it's a blend of academics and physical fitness, so make sure to balance your preparations for both aspects. Doing so should give you a strong foundation for these unique college application processes. Good luck with your training and future career path!
