Military Colleges in West Virginia?

Hello all! I'm a junior from West Virginia and have been contemplating pursuing a military career alongside my education. With that in mind, could anyone please tell me a bit more about the military colleges located right here in West Virginia? Any info on the fields of study they're known for would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there! It's great to hear you're considering a military career. In West Virginia, there are two well-known military institutions that might be of interest to you - the United States Coast Guard National Maritime Center and the West Virginia Army National Guard.

1. U.S. Coast Guard National Maritime Center (NMC), located in Martinsburg, is mostly for certification, training, and licensing of U.S. maritime personnel. It isn't a traditional degree-granting institution, but instead it focuses on providing courses, training, and certifications necessary for a maritime career.

2. The West Virginia Army National Guard isn't a college per se, but if you're interested in serving in a part-time capacity while pursuing higher education, it's an option to consider. Many members of the National Guard attend college through ROTC programs or using the benefits available to them as military personnel.

For traditional undergraduate studies with a military focus, you might also want to consider colleges/universities that have Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs. In West Virginia, West Virginia University and Marshall University offer Army ROTC, and West Virginia University also offers Air Force ROTC.

In Army ROTC, you can specialize in a wide variety of fields, depending on your interests. These can include engineering, computer science, biology, psychology, and more. Air Force ROTC programs often offer specialized tracks in areas such as aerospace engineering, meteorology, and aeronautics among others.

I hope this helps! If you have further questions or want more detailed information, don't hesitate to ask.
