Maximizing CLEP Credit Transfers

Hi everyone, I've been grinding on CLEP exams to skip some GenEds. Do you know of any colleges that accept the most CLEP credits? Really want to maximize my efforts.

Sure, I can help with that! While many colleges accept CLEP (College Level Examination Program) credits, the rules regarding the number of credits you can transfer using CLEP scores vary significantly from school to school. Generally, state universities tend to accept more CLEP credits compared to private institutions and are usually a bit more generous with their policies.

For instance, Florida State University accepts up to 45 CLEP credits, making it one of the colleges accepting the most CLEP credits. Excelsior College, based in Albany, New York, is another institution that accepts a large amount of CLEP credits. Excelsior accepts up to 113 CLEP credits for some of its programs, which is almost enough to earn a degree!

However, it's significant to consider that even if a school accepts a high number of CLEP credits, they might put restrictions on how these credits can be applied towards degree requirements. Some schools may limit the amount of CLEP credit that can be applied toward your major or GenEd requirements, while still allowing a generous amount of credit for electives.

Before planning your course schedule, I would suggest first narrowing down potential colleges and then directly contacting those schools' admissions or registrar's office to understand their CLEP credit policy and limitations. This way you can ensure your hard work is maximized to its fullest potential!
