Are there colleges that offer Military History as a major or minor?

Hello there! I've found military history fascinating since my middle school years, and I'm hoping to continue studying it in college. Can you guys suggest any reputable colleges for their military history programs? Ideally, it'd be great if they offered it as a full-fledged major. But just having a minor or some relevant courses would be fine, too.

Hi! It's fantastic that you have identified your interest in Military History! Here are a few universities that you might want to consider:

1. Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont offers a BA in Studies in War and Peace which delves into the history, causes, and impacts of wars. Students can additionally focus on the historical and political narratives that shape military actions.

2. Ohio State University has a highly regarded history department, and they offer a specialization in military history. This program is primarily at the graduate level, but undergraduate students can participate in military history classes.

3. University of North Texas in Denton, Texas offers a Military History Track as part of their History Major, where students can focus on historical periods or events of military significance.

4. United States Military Academy at West Point offers a military history track within their history major. It covers American and European military history and includes courses on strategy and warfare.

Remember, even if a school doesn't offer a dedicated major or minor in military history, many universities offer courses in military history as part of their general history or political science programs. You may be able to create an individually designed major or minor, focusing on military history, if it aligns with your career goals and academic interests.

Don't forget to reach out to the admissions department or advisers in the History Department of the colleges you're considering so they can provide you with the most up-to-date and relevant information. Good luck with your college search!
