Understanding Oxfords Colleges - Which are the most prestigious?

I'm from the States but I've been thinking about applying abroad, especially to the University of Oxford. I understand they have a collegiate system so, it would be helpful to know, which are viewed as the most prestigious Oxford colleges? And does the college you're in significantly affect your overall experience studying there?

The collegiate system at Oxford is indeed unique. All the colleges are part of the University and provide the buildings and community where students live and often have tutorials in, but they do not offer programs of study. This is unlike in the United States, where different colleges within a university may offer different programs or subjects.
