Seeking advice about United States Military Academy

I've seen some threads on College Confidential about the United States Military Academy but wanted to get some perspective from others as well. For those who applied/are attending, what was your experience like? How was the admission process, and what can incoming freshmen expect in terms of courses, campus life, and opportunities?

The application process to the United States Military Academy (also known as West Point) is unlike many traditional college applications. Along with typical components such as transcripts, recommendations, and essays, you'll also need a nomination from a member of Congress—probably your local representative or one of your state's senators. Don't be intimidated by this; start the process early and follow the instructions on the Academy's website or those provided by your nominator’s office.

Academically, you'll engage in a highly rigorous curriculum rooted in core classes that combine STEM, social science, humanities, and military science courses. Some popular fields of study at West Point are Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Management Science. In all these fields, academic learning is complemented by hands-on experiences that aid in developing leadership skills, and the student-to-faculty ratio is quite favorable, ensuring personalized learning.
