Do military benefits cover parents' college tuition?

I'm a military kid and I've heard about how certain benefits can cover college tuition. But does this applies to the children only or could my military benefits also pay for my parents' college tuition?

Generally speaking, the military education benefits are designed to help service members, veterans, and their family members - which can include children and spouses. The specific benefit that you may be thinking of is the Post-9/11 GI Bill, which under certain conditions allows service members to transfer unused benefits to their spouse or dependent children.

However, this doesn't typically extend to cover the education of parents. The Department of Defense and the VA determine the eligibility for transferring these benefits, but it's primarily geared towards supporting servicemembers and their immediate dependents (spouses and children).

While the GI Bill might not be applicable for your parents, there may be other financial aid options available to them if they are considering going back to university, such as federal grants and loans, scholarships, or tuition reimbursement programs from their employers. It's worth exploring other avenues of funding for further education.
