Spouse Studying Overseas

Hi everyone, my spouse is currently serving overseas. I’ve been thinking of starting a degree online, but I'm not sure which colleges offer programs that work well for military spouses abroad. Any help would be great!

Sure, I totally understand your situation and it's commendable that you're eager to pursue an online degree while your spouse is overseas.

There are many colleges that offer online programs designed to accommodate the needs of the military community including spouses. Some universities even provide special benefits to military families.

Excelsior College and American Public University are two colleges with strong reputations and track records in supporting military families. Both provide online degree programs in a variety of fields and offer tuition reduction options for military spouses.

Similarly, Columbia Southern University offers an online learning model especially designed for busy, working adults. They also have a comprehensive financial aid program for military spouses.

A few more notable options are Penn State World Campus, University of Arizona Global Campus, and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). These colleges offer a wide array of programs from associate's to doctoral degrees, all entirely online.

Remember, the best online program for you will depend on your interests and career goals. No matter what, ensure the college is regionally accredited—that's a quality marker and can affect whether your credits will transfer if needed later.

Lastly, don’t forget about financial support. The Department of Defense's MyCAA program provides up to $4,000 in financial assistance to eligible military spouses who are pursuing a license, certification, or associate's degree in a portable career field and occupation.

Good luck on your educational journey!
