Juggling College Classes while in the Military

I'm really keen on continuing my education, but I also want to serve after high school. Is it feasible to take college classes while being in the military or is that going to be too much to handle? Thanks in advance!

Certainly, it's feasible to pursue your education while serving in the military. Many individuals have successfully balanced this dual responsibility, but it requires planning, discipline, and effective time management.

One thing to note is that your military commitments will often take precedence, and you may find yourself having less free time than civilian students. Depending on your service commitments, the flexibility of your classes can play a huge role in making this work; online courses can be especially helpful.

Moreover, the military offers programs like the Tuition Assistance Program and the G.I. Bill, which can greatly aid servicemembers in pursuing higher education. The Tuition Assistance Program pays for tuition fees and the G.I. Bill can cover tuition, housing, and textbook costs. However, you'll likely need to fulfill a service requirement to be eligible for these benefits.

Many military personnel choose to study part-time rather than full-time due to their service commitments. This approach does lengthen your timeline to a degree but also helps minimize the stress of balancing both responsibilities.

Lastly, some colleges have "military-friendly" programs specifically designed to cater to the needs of military members, such as more flexible schedules, online classes, and credit for military service. So it's worth doing some research to find a school that understands the unique needs and circumstances of military students.

In short, it's certainly a challenge to balance military service and higher education, but it's entirely possible with the right planning and support systems in place! It's an admirable path you're considering, and I wish you all the best in both your military service and educational pursuits.
