What are the admission requirements for The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina?

Hey everyone, I'm a junior thinking about applying to The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. I want to go into the military after high school and I think this college could really prepare me for that. Does anyone know what their admission requirements are? GPA, coursework, etc. Thanks in advance!

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, looks for students who're determined, disciplined, and ready to commit to a demanding physical and academic program.

When it comes to academics, they don't specify a minimum GPA, but a competitive GPA (say, around 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale) is advantageous. Remember, they'll be looking at your high school academic record, including the rigor of your courses, so it's in your best interest to take challenging subjects if possible - APs, IB, Honors, etc.

The Citadel will also take into consideration your SAT or ACT scores. They will be looking for strong scores but haven't specified a minimum cut-off. They currently accept both the SAT and ACT, with students submitting scores from either of the two.

The Citadel also requires character/fitness assessments as part of their application process. These are less about athletic ability and more about your ability to adhere to the high moral and ethical standards of the school.

Moreover, they recommend an interview and campus visit if feasible, although these are optional. Even if demonstrated interest isn't a formal part of the process, both these steps could help in showing your seriousness toward The Citadel and its ethos.

Finally, being involved in extracurricular activities, showing leadership qualities, and having strong personal essays and recommendations can strengthen your application. This is your chance to demonstrate you have the qualities of a successful cadet and future military leader.

Do remember, military colleges like The Citadel are unique in their admission process and the attributes they seek in their applicants. Hence, while grades and test scores matter, they also place a lot of emphasis on students' character, leadership potential, and physical fitness. Therefore, make sure your application reflects these qualities. Good luck!
