How can I Use My Military Training to Choose a College?

Hey y'all, currently I'm serving in the military and considering going to college after my service. I've developed a strong interest in military tactics during my training. Are there any colleges that are known for their military tactics courses? Also, would these courses count towards a degree, or are they more of an extracurricular thing?

Hello! It's fantastic that you want to turn your military experience into a stepping stone for your higher education. Schools with recognized ROTC programs or military colleges would be a great place for you to start looking. These institutions often offer courses related to military tactics as part of their curriculum, which means your studies would indeed count towards a degree.

Colleges with esteemed military programs include the United States Military Academy (West Point), the United States Naval Academy, and the United States Air Force Academy. These service academies offer degrees in a variety of fields, and the tactical training you've received will be highly relevant.

Additionally, civilian universities with prominent ROTC programs like Texas A&M or Virginia Tech could be another solid option. Both of these schools offer robust military science programs. Classes in these programs delve into the theories and practices of military tactics, and you would definitely be able to leverage your previous training.

Remember, every college and program has different course offerings and degree requirements. Be sure to check the curriculum details and speak with an admissions officer or academic adviser at the colleges you're considering to see how military tactics courses fit into their degree programs.

Best of luck with your college search and thank you for your service!
