What sets a senior military college apart?

Hello, can anyone explain what distinguishes a United States senior military college from a regular college? I'm exploring different post-graduation paths and have come across this term several times. Any insight would be appreciated.

Senior military colleges (SMCs) represent a specific group of institutions in the United States. The primary distinguishing characteristic of these colleges is that they integrate full military immersion into the undergraduate academic experience. This is distinctly different from traditional colleges or those that offer ROTC programs, where the military aspect is more of a separate or supplementary element.

There are six colleges that have been recognized by the US Department of Defense as SMCs: Norwich University, Virginia Military Institute, The Citadel, Texas A&M University, Virginia Tech, and University of North Georgia. These schools offer a more rigorous lifestyle where students live in a military-style environment along with their college studies.
