Hey fellow juniors! I was wondering, anyone here applying to Hunter College? How many letters of recommendation do they ask undergrad applicants for? Any specific guidelines?
Hello! I see you're looking into applying to Hunter College. As per their guidelines, they do require one letter of recommendation for undergraduate applicants.
The letter could be written by a teacher, a school counselor, or anyone else who can discuss your academic abilities in depth. Though there isn't a specific subject teacher required, it would be better to have it written by someone who has had ample opportunity to witness your academic strengths, your growth, and your potential.
Keep in mind that the goal of the recommendation letter is to provide the admissions committee with a perspective of you as a student that grades and test scores may not capture. It's worthwhile to have a conversation with the person writing it, perhaps remind them of some particularly good work or experiences you had in their class that they can speak about in the letter.
Make sure they send the recommendation through the Common App, as Hunter College does not accept mailed or emailed recommendations. Good luck with your application process!
