Options apart from college or the military?

Finding the best path for me after graduation has been a bit hectic. While college and the military are common choices, I'm curious about what else is out there. Would love to hear more about other viable options. Having trouble formulating a clear path, any inputs?

Certainly! There are a multitude of options you can explore beyond going to college or joining the military right after high school. Here are a few that might resonate with you:

1. Vocational training programs: If you have an interest in fields like culinary services, cosmetology, or trades like electrical or plumbing, numerous vocational schools offer certification programs. These certifications can directly lead to career entry.

2. Apprenticeships: An apprenticeship allows you to learn a trade through a mix of in-work training and academic learning. They exist in a variety of fields - from engineering and law to creative arts and media.

3. Entrepreneurship: If you have a business idea or a passion for creating something of your own, becoming an entrepreneur could be an exciting venture. Today, many resources are available to help young entrepreneurs launch their businesses.

4. Volunteer work: Programs like AmeriCorps, and Peace Corps provide opportunities for you to serve in community development, teaching, health services, etc. This could be a rewarding experience and could also provide you with transferable skills for future opportunities.

5. Gap Year: Taking a gap year to work, travel or volunteer can be beneficial. You gain real-world experiences and skills that schools and employers value. Plus, it gives you a chance to discover your interests before committing to a long-term career path.

6. Internships or Part-time Jobs: Gaining professional work experience can be a great way to discover what you enjoy and gain skills that are valued by employers.

Remember, everyone has their journey—what works best for you might not be the traditional route and there's nothing wrong with that! It's about finding what makes you feel fulfilled and driven in your career. Don't shy away from charting your course.
