Looking for Creativity

Hey y'all, I'm hoping to find a college that really encourages and supports creativity across all majors. I've always loved thinking outside the box and want a college that will foster that. So, what are some of the most creative colleges you've heard of or experienced?

I think that's an important quality to look for in a college experience. When we consider colleges that support creative thinking, a few names come to mind:

1. Brown University with its Open Curriculum allows students to really explore their interests. Rather than having a core curriculum, it encourages students to explore a wide range of subjects than just their major. You could study neuroscience but take a deep dive into creative writing as well. This flexibility can surely foster creative expression.

2. Stanford University and its 'D.school' (Design School) is well-known for its interdisciplinary approach. The school encourages students from divergent fields to collaborate on project-based challenges. The institution is known for fostering creativity, fostering innovative thought, and building empathy.

3. Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is known worldwide for its rigorous approach to art and design education. Even if visual art isn't your area of interest, RISD's approach to creative problem-solving can be advantageous in a myriad of fields. Also, RISD adjoins Brown University, and students can cross-register for courses, giving the best of both art and liberal arts education.

4. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) may be famous for its STEM programs, but it has a strong creative thread running through all the departments. Its Media Lab, an interdisciplinary research lab, is known to be a hotbed of innovation.

Also, most liberal arts colleges encourage broad-based learning which can lead to increased creativity as you're not confined to a rigid curriculum. Schools like Amherst College or Wesleyan University pride themselves on this style of education.

That said, every student's interpretation of what 'creative' means can vary.
